Tell us about yourself:

I am an educator and design researcher.

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

My aesthetic inspiration drew a lot from the work of Emory Douglas, and my design came from embracing self-love and all that makes me feel young, gifted, and Black.

Why do you love being creative?

I love having many parts of my life inform one another by being creative. I get to use my creativity in many aspects of my life, from work to leisure to travel.

Tell us about your experiences in the design world…

In my early career, I found myself in some uncomfortable professional situations. As I found mentorship and gained experience, I became more confident in my talents and what I bring to the table.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that Black people are represented?

You can first take a look at your milieu and come to understand why you think the way you do and make room for growth and expansion.

In general… How can we make more equity or equality for us?

Start by looking within and using your unique talents to make impactful changes.
