Tell us about yourself:
My name is Crystal-Marie. I graduated in 2005 with a BS in Graphic Design from FAMU and received my MAIA in Graphic Design from SFSU in 2009. I’ve freelanced under IsrylDesigns for over 20 years and have recently launched The Diva Media Agency, LLC.
What is the inspiration behind your poster design?
I wanted something fun and feminine. The YES WE CAN for me meant that women, especially Black women can do anything!
Why do you love being creative?
I love being creative because it exercises the gifts that God has given me.
Tell us about your experiences in the design world…
After graduating with my MAIA from SFSU in 2009, I had to create my own space in design. I did that by taking on freelance projects under my IsrylDesigns brand. If you cannot sit at the (design) table create your table and bring the chairs!
How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that Black people are represented?
This answer will take up more space than we have on this form.
In general… How can we make more equity or equality for us?
We need to create more spaces where Black designers can thrive.
