You can call me Url, like “earl”. I’m a black non-binary (they/them) designer based in Brooklyn, NY. After working in the customer service industry for the last 8 years, I became the recipient of Shillington’s 2021 Diversity in Design Scholarship. When I’m not designing, you can catch me doing research on astrology, working in my community garden, or appreciating the art of animation.

I took inspiration from the origins of the phrase “yas queen”. This term was used to to convey support and uplift everyone. I wanted to do a self portrait to celebrate my growth in these last few years as I have come to really come into my queer identity. There have been a lot of tears along the way but so many flowers have bloomed within me because of it. I am being “crowned” like a “queen” by a planet crown inspired by how astrology has had a huge influence on how I see myself.
