Violet Zadoyan is a graphic designer with a passion for editorial layout design. Shortly after graduating from KCAI, she started My Essence My Core magazine. An indie print mag based out of Kansas City that features local creatives and is all about chasing your wildest dreams. Alongside running a magazine, she loves to take on freelance projects that support her community. If she’s not glued to her computer working on the same InDesign document for hours, you’ll probably find her lost in a book.
I was inspired by the strength that comes in numbers and the overall collaborative process. With collaboration comes new ideas, stronger ideas, and better execution.
Without inclusivity and solidarity, what do we really have? Without each other, we drift and become disconnected, directionless. It’s together that we find grounding and growth. That we become something stronger than we could ever be alone.
To create a more inclusive design world, we need to, yes, invite more people’s voices in, but more importantly, ensure their voices genuinely shape the outcome. That means collaborating with diverse perspectives, valuing lived experiences, and being open to new techniques/approaches. By making space and sharing influence, we can create work that truly represents and serves everyone.
