Tell us about yourself:

I am in my first year of the graphic design program at Johnson County Community College, and my favorite thing to design is posters, so this was a lot of fun!

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

I was inspired by the importance of community, especially in light of the state of our world today. It’s human nature to crave togetherness, and it would be so harmful to place limits on that. Together beyond labels always!

Please tell us why you think inclusivity and solidarity are essential in our society…

Inclusivity and solidarity are essential in our society so all voices are amplified and no one is left feeling isolated. Prioritizing acceptance and empathy creates healthy environments and builds resilience within our society, bringing us one step closer to global change.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that everyone is represented?

Though I showcased a bit of my own experiences on my poster, I think it’s important to step outside your comfort zone and create art that isn’t just tailored to you but also to other communities in need of representation. Focusing on accessibility, welcoming diverse perspectives, and treating each other with compassion goes a long way.
