I am a senior graphic design student at JCCC, graduating in December 2026. In my spare time, I love making art, crocheting, and hanging out with my husband and our greyhound.
I was inspired by the phrase “strength in numbers” and by how relevant it is today. To foster meaningful change, we need everyone to participate and push through their discomfort. There is often fear or hesitation among people in using their voice, taking a step towards action, or doing some true introspection about their own biases and how they show up for their community. Some people find courage through the bravery of others, and when we see others consistently do these things, it builds momentum. My poster represents this idea through the concept of birds in flight. When they come together as one flock, the journey becomes easier, and a single bird is no longer left defenseless.
Inclusivity and solidarity are essential in our society because if anyone is marginalized, then society isn’t truly free. To me, that means it’s not a problem for a single group to solve; it takes everyone to make progress in every way we can.
