I’m a self taught graphic designer with too many hobbies.
Our brains are naturally hardwired to put things and people in categories or boxes to help us make sense of the world, it’s a basic survival instinct. But we are all human. We all love and grieve, we have joys and fears, and we all live and die regardless of the boxes we are put in. I think it’s important to remember that despite how society – and even we individually – label each other and ourselves, at the end of it all we are still human and have more in common than not.
Not everyone has the same experience in life and I think a lot of people forget that. The more inclusive our society is, the more empathetic we will be to others, and as a result the more equitable our society will become.
Sharing knowledge and resources in a way that is accessible for everyone, not just the people who can afford the programs. And more projects like Pick Progress that work to highlight different view points that don’t often get centered in the design world.
