Tell us about yourself:

I am a graphic designer that graduated from Johnson County Community College in 2021. Thanks to a few wonderful, whole-hearted connections, I started freelancing in 2022. I want to help people share their truth, hopes and ideas in a manner that will create a new community or grow a current one.

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

Collective Harmony; independents that work together. I chose to illustrate the idea that everyone lives in their own world, has their own problems and victories, yet we make connection no matter how different the background. We all sow seeds and spawn weeds… help one another in the process.

Please tell us why you think inclusivity and solidarity are essential in our society…

Inclusivity and solidarity are important for society to live in harmony. You can’t truly connect with someone until you can understand them. After understanding, you can recognize the voice and see the overlap when looking at communities. From there, you can: learn, love, embrace, respect… there is not just one way of life, nor should there be. So, all differences need to be recognized to be able to share with and support one another- respectfully.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that everyone is represented?

Projects like this ensure inclusivity and sharing of thoughts. Personally, I’ve spoken up for or acted on designing pieces that ensure various representations. That is something I want to see in things I work on, at the least. Unless the project is so specific that it would displace the purpose, there is always an opportunity to be inclusive… so, try.
