Tell us about yourself:

I’m a Louisiana-based lettering artist known for brand identity and illustration. I work with businesses to create designs that speak to their core and help them get closer to where they want to be.

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

This piece is inspired by the “swim-in” that took place by local activists at Baton Rouge’s city park pool house. It was segregated at the time but still funded by the taxes of colored people.

Why do you love being creative?

With each creation, I understand myself a bit more. Being creative helps me move with conviction as well as help other people think through things they couldn’t alone.

Tell us about your experiences in the design world…

Not exactly sure how to explain it. Its been interesting. Mentorless.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that Black people are represented?

I think creating our own spaces is huge. Spaces where we can be creative and even competitive at a high level.

In general… How can we make more equity or equality for us?

I think we start with building collaborative spaces in our cities; apart from social media.
