Tell us about yourself:

I love using design as a tool to connect people. I believe design is all around us and has the ability to tell a story. I’m passionate about the city I live in, and love incorporating it into the work I design.

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

My main inspiration for the poster design was from viewing different photographed portraits from the “Black is Beautiful” movement, and knew it would be fitting to do a self-portrait.

Why do you love being creative?

I love being a creative because it allows me to create an experience for the viewer that, in many ways, expresses feelings and ideas where words alone are simply not enough.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that Black people are represented?

Creating an inclusive design world that ensures Black people are represented starts with building and supporting creative spaces that celebrate, but also, allows Black creatives to connect with each other. To me, that’s what makes Pick Posters so special, it gives Black designers a space to create work that reflects our culture and our history, while also uplifting us to share our work on a global platform.
