Tell us about yourself:

Hello! My name is Elizabeth. I am an artist and designer from Cincinnati, Ohio! When I’m not designing or creating art, I’m either building houses in sims4, reading manga, or watching Spy x Family, my favorite anime at the moment.

What is the inspiration behind your poster design?

So, my phrase was Black Girl Magic. For the poster, I thought of a side profile of a young woman with her hair up. I wanted to implement some type of abstract line work or pattern into the hair. I wanted a monochromatic look with the purple and I think it worked well! I highlighted the hair, and facial features with a light purple and white. Doing that created this illuminating effect throughout the poster. It really shines! It’s feminine and beautiful.

Why do you love being creative?

I love being creative because I love bringing my ideas to life. There’s no right or wrong way to create; If something doesn’t work out, I can always change it. Knowing that my work doesn’t have to be perfect in the beginning, and that I can create in the moment definitely gives me joy.

How can we create a more inclusive design world and ensure that Black people are represented?

I think sharing our work is key. We can inspire and uplift others with our art. I believe in God-given gifts and ideas. So, if you had an idea or project on your mind for months, start on it. Write it out, make a prototype, etc. Just create!
